Camera fit comes to Fire TV and Google TV
Video Wall 1.2.9 for Fire TV and Google TV brings Camera fit, the setting Apple TV got in 2.4.0. It is live on the Amazon Appstore now and on its way to Google Play. Your TV installs it on its own, and nothing about your wall changes until you pick something different.
Fill the tile, or show the whole picture
Ring cameras record a wide picture, and the tiles on your wall aren’t always that shape. With two cameras side by side, each tile is tall and narrow, so something has to give. Camera fit lets you decide what:
- Auto, the default, picks for each tile. A tall doorbell view fills its tile; a wide camera in a tall tile shows its whole frame.
- Fill (crop) fills every tile edge to edge, trimming the sides where the shapes differ.
- Fit (whole frame) shows every camera’s full picture, with a bar where it doesn’t match the tile.
You’ll find it in Settings, the first row under Display. It applies to live video and to the snapshots of cameras waiting their turn, and each TV keeps its own choice. Full screen always shows the whole picture. More on Camera fit.
Also new since the last update
- The white outline on the selected camera fades a few seconds after you put the remote down, and comes back with any button press. Pressing Select while it’s hidden only brings it back, so you never open a camera you couldn’t see was selected.
- The tips you see right after pairing now fit on one screen, with Continue right underneath.
The update is free for everyone on a trial or plan. Widgets and the Top Shelf are still Apple TV and web app features for now.
