Ring works with Google Assistant, and it’s worth being clear about what that gets you. Say “Hey Google, show the front door” and the camera can appear on your TV. For a glance when the doorbell goes, that’s genuinely useful.

But it’s one camera at a time, only when you ask out loud, and the view shuts itself off after a few minutes. It leans on Assistant hearing the camera name you actually gave it — rename a camera in the Ring app and the phrase you’ve been using stops working. There’s no grid, no wall you can leave up, no event history to browse from the couch, and nothing to arrange. It’s a peephole, not a control room.

Video Wall is the only app on Google TV that does the rest: every Ring camera in one live grid that stays on, fullscreen with audio on any feed, Auto-Cycle to flip through cameras for you, and each camera’s recent events a click away. It’s the same app Ring reviewed and approved for its App Store, now native on Android TV.

If your TV has Google TV built in — most recent Sony, TCL, Hisense and Philips sets — Video Wall runs on the TV itself, no extra box.
